Terms and Conditions – The Handyman Team
1. Interpretation References to any statutory provision, authority, rule, or code of practice shall include their amended versions, replacements, or successors.
2. Relationship Between the Parties 2.1 The Client engages Handyman Team to provide the services described herein.
2.2 Nothing in this agreement constitutes an employer-employee or agency relationship.
2.3 Neither party may assign or transfer any rights or obligations without written consent from the other party.
3. Quotations 3.1 Quotations include:

Total cost (labour and foreseeable materials)
3.2 Quotations are valid for 14 days unless otherwise stated.
3.3 For jobs over £500, a 25% deposit is required upon acceptance.
3.4 All items procured on behalf of the client will incur a 10% surcharge to cover fuel and logistics.
4. Consumer Rights (Cooling-Off) 4.1 Domestic clients have a 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.
4.2 Work may proceed within this period only if the client provides express written agreement.
5. Services and Delivery 5.1 Services will be carried out as per the accepted quotation.
5.2 Timeframes are approximate; time is not of the essence.
5.3 We are not liable for delays due to unforeseen events, weather, or access issues.
6. Payments 6.1 Payment is due immediately upon job completion on the same day unless otherwise agreed in advance.
6.2 It is the customer’s responsibility to be on-site to make payment. If arranged prior, a payment link or bank details can be provided.
6.3 If payment is not made on the day, a £25 administration fee will apply to cover the time involved in chasing payment.
6.4 All additional work outside the original quote must be agreed upon in writing and will be billed accordingly.
6.5 We do not accept cash payments. Accepted payment methods are card or bank transfer only.
6.6 Client agrees:
Not to withhold due payments
To cover all legal/recovery fees for overdue accounts
7. Bookings and Cancellations 7.1 All bookings must be confirmed via WhatsApp, constituting agreement to these terms.
7.2 Cancellations:
Over 72 hours’ notice: no charge
Within 72 hours: 100% of quoted cost due
Access/preparation failure: treated as late cancellation
7.3 Changes must be acknowledged by us in writing or WhatsApp.
8. Client Responsibilities 8.1 Client must provide safe, ventilated, and accessible working conditions.
8.2 Provide utilities (water, electricity) and protect personal belongings.
8.3 Client is responsible for any permissions or approvals required.
8.4 Where materials are supplied by the client, we assume no responsibility for defects or outcomes.
9. The Handyman Team – Obligations 9.1 Work will be carried out with reasonable skill and care.
9.2 General waste will be cleared unless agreed otherwise.
9.3 Public liability insurance is in place.
9.4 We comply with Health & Safety legislation, including the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
10. Property and Risk 10.1 Materials remain our property until fully paid for.
10.2 Risk transfers to the client upon delivery or dispatch from our premises.
11. Guarantee 11.1 We offer a 12-month guarantee on workmanship and supplied materials, subject to:
Proper care and use
No third-party modifications
11.2 Claims must be submitted within 30 days of issue identification.
11.3 Guarantee is valid only upon full payment.
12. Complaints and Rectification 12.1 Complaints must be submitted in writing within 7 days of completion.
12.2 We will arrange a no-cost rectification visit where necessary.
13. Termination 13.1 Either party may terminate with immediate effect if:
The other party commits a serious or irremediable breach
Insolvency proceedings are initiated
13.2 Upon termination, all work to date will be invoiced.
14. Liability 14.1 We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
14.2 Liability for death or injury due to negligence is not excluded.
15. Indemnity Client indemnifies The Handyman Team against losses from breach of these terms.
16. Force Majeure We are not responsible for delays or failures due to external factors (e.g., weather, strikes, pandemics).
17. Data Protection 17.1 The Handyman Team is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
17.2 We collect personal data only to the extent necessary for carrying out our services, including but not limited to names, addresses, contact details, and job requirements.
17.3 Your data will be used solely for:
Communicating about your bookings or enquiries
Processing payments and invoices
Sending necessary documentation or updates
17.4 Your personal data will not be shared with third parties without your consent, except where required by law or necessary for service delivery (e.g., sending payment links or using cloud storage providers).
17.5 We retain your personal data only for as long as needed to fulfill our services or as required by legal or regulatory obligations.

18. Disputes Parties agree to attempt mediation before court proceedings. This contract is governed by English law. Jurisdiction: English courts.
19. General 19.1 These terms override any prior agreements.
19.2 Any amendment must be in writing and agreed by both parties.
19.3 If a clause is unenforceable, the remainder shall remain valid.
19.4 No third party shall benefit from this agreement.
